1994
First produced in the Toronto Fringe Festival with Metal Corset Co. and De Pencier Productions. Runaway hit. Pick of the Fringe. Every seat sold out.

1995
Tarragon Theatre produces a full production in the Second Space. A sold-out run leads to another production the following season on the theatres Mainstage.*

1996
Tarragon's Mainstage production also plays to critical acclaim, standing ovations and full houses, once again selling out. The play is short listed for a Chalmers Award, the production nominated for 6 Dora Mavor Moore Awards and Ms. Fulton wins a Dora Award for Outstanding Performance. The play tours to Ottawa, (GCTC) and London's Grand Theatre.

1997
Through the Mexican Ambassador to Canada, Frida K. is invited to play in Kahlos own Mexico City at Foro Stanistablas.Frida K. tours to Vancouver (Vancouver Cultural Centre), and Calgary (nominated for Sterling for best Production at One Yellow Rabbit).Frida K. wins rave reviews off-Broadway in New York City and hailed as "one of the most extraordinary performances on the New York stage." (Village Voice.)

2007
January, 2007: As a celebration of Frida Kahlo's Centennary Year, the National Arts Centre, Ottawa, Canada, co-produced "Frida K." with Go Diva Productions, Los Angeles, with the entire original creative team directed by Peter Hinton and starring award winning actress Allegra Fulton in the title role written for her by her mother playwright Gloria Montero. The critically acclaimed 2007 National Arts Centre remount of "Frida K." subsequently played at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, Manitoba (February 2007), where the production was nominated for a Sterling Award. The Spanish version of "Frida K.", written by the author and again directed by Peter Hinton with Maite Brik playing Frida, has toured all over Spain since its premiere in Madrid's Festival de Otoņo 1994, winning the Critic's Prize in Barcelona. In 1999 this production played to acclaim at the International Theatre Festival, Havana, Cuba. February 23-March 19, 2006, "Frida K." was remounted in the Teatro Galileo, Madrid.

A Czech production of "Frida K." translated and directed by Olga Struskova, starring Zora Jandová, premiered at the Lyra Pragensis, Prague, in September 2005 where it continues to play in repertory.

Teater Sagohuset, Lund, Sweden, premiered the Swedish production of "Frida K." in November 2007 in a translation by Karin Lentz, directed by Margareta Larson and starring Nadia Bogazzi. The production ran in Lund until December 16 and will tour southern Sweden in 2008.

December, 2007 Allegra Fulton received a Capitol Critics Circle Award as Best Actor in Frida K. and Peter Hinton was nominated for this award as Best Director.The 8th Capital Critics Circle was an award for plays presented in Ottawa during the 2006-2007 season.
