On June 2014 Photology will exhibit in Milan 23 photographs in Leo Matiz's first solo show "Frida y Diego. Fotografie di Leo Matiz".
Leo Matiz is considered one of the most versatile, original photojournalists who renovated the Art scene of the first sixty years of the twentieth century in Latin America. He was born in 1917 in Colombia, in the village of Aracataca, spending his adolescence in Bogotà, where he worked in the newspaper El Tiempo. Here he early began to attend the bohemian cafè, a meeting place for cartoonists and painters. Thanks to Enrique Santos Molano’s suggestion Matiz approached to photography and he built a reputation as a passionate and sensitive photojournalist. During his stay in Mexico between '40 and '48, he met and photographed Frida Kahlo and her husband Diego Rivera.
