After the premiere in Houston this enormous exhibition moves to the Tate Gallery, where more than 30 pieces by Frida are on display, along with 120 pieces by artists she influenced over five generations.
Besides some of Frida's best-known paintings, the exhibition will include records, images, and memorabilia from Kahlo's archives, as well as the creations of more than 80 of her contemporaries and artists from later generations that she influenced.
The show offers a journey that is completely exclusive to this fearless, groundbreaking artist and that provides fascinating insight into the diverse communities that claim Frida as their own, the intriguing concept of fandom, and the transformative role of women artists in the 20th century.
A detailed description of the exhibition is available here.
The exhibition is organised by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, in collaboration with Tate Modern. The event is in partnership with Lead Global Supporter, Bank of America. Supported by John J. Studzinski CBE with additional support from Tate Members.
