"Frida Kahlo: Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray" at MSV, Winchester, The Northern Virginia, US

06 September 2025 | 04 January 2026

"Frida Kahlo: Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray", an international traveling exhibition, visits the Museum of Shenandoah Valley after showing in Rome, Italy (March–July 2025). The exhibition features almost 50 of Nickolas Muray's photographs of Kahlo from 1937 to 1946, which are being shown for the first time in Virginia.

Some of Kahlo's most iconic photographs, they were taken by Muray - famed fashion and commercial photographer born in Hungary -  who emphasized her bold sense of style, pride in her Mexican ancestry, and intimate bonds with family and friends. In addition to well-known portraits, such as the 1939 picture of Kahlo sitting on a white bench dressed traditionally, the exhibition also includes more intimate shots of Kahlo with her husband, Diego Rivera, and a 1941 picture of Muray and Kahlo together in her studio.
