“Frida Kahlo Oasis”, a new exhibition in San Antonio on view From May 8, 2021

14 March 2021

The San Antonio Botanical Garden is pleased to announce its newest exhibition, Frida Kahlo Oasis, bringing to San Antonio a captivating rendition of the artist’s iconic blue home, Casa Azul, and lush green sanctuary that profoundly influenced her timeless art. Uniquely curated by the San Antonio Botanical Garden, this exhibition uncovers Kahlo’s deep connection with Mexican native vegetation and the natural world. Frida Kahlo Oasis is making its world debut on May 8, 2021 and will be on view through November 2, 2021.

“Frida Kahlo had a deeply rooted connection with the natural world, which was shown consistently in her incredible story, home, garden and mesmerizing artwork,” Sabina Carr, chief executive officer of the garden, said in a statement. “Through this one-of-a-kind open-air exhibition, the Botanical Garden wishes to inspire visitors and spark their own connection to nature as they are immersed by the many plants and landmarks from Kahlo’s life.”

The Botanical Garden will offer a variety of Frida Kahlo and Mexican inspired programs to engage visitors along with the exhibition. Examples include special curated tours, art history lectures, culinary and cocktail workshops, and adult and family events.
