Frida Kahlo's relatives discussing art and family at The Broad Museum, East Lansing, MI, US

24 June 2022

Since January, the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo's final days have been intimately depicted for visitors at Michigan State University's Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum. “Kahlo Without Borders” has been open to Broad visitors since Jan. 15, and will run through Aug. 7.

Through images of Kahlo and her family, medical records from her stay at a hospital in Mexico City, letters between the artist and her family, friends, and doctors, and Cristina Kahlo's photography, the exhibition offers glimpses into the artist's personal and creative world.

In two separate talks on June 29 and 30, both at 6 p.m. at the Broad, Frida Kahlo's grandniece Cristina Kahlo, artist and co-curator of the exhibition, and Juan Coronel Rivera, a famous painter and Kahlo's husband Diego Rivera's grandson, will talk about art and family.
