The Dalí Museum is opening a new exhibition that explores the profound yet common human experience of dreaming through the works of renowned artists and a brand-new interactive artificial intelligence (AI) experience.
The Shape of Dreams, on display from November 25, 2022, to April 30, 2023, examines paintings from 500 years ago, from the 16th to the 20th century, and explores dreams via psychological, religious, and philosophical lenses.
The show explores the similarities and disconnections between the past and present by looking at how Western artists have portrayed dreams over time for very diverse audiences.
Artwork by Frida Kahlo, Paul Delvaux, Pat Steir, Philip Guston, Max Beckmann, Lodovico Carracci, Luca Giordano, and Odilon Redon can be found in the Shape of Dreams show. Together, the pieces discuss representational styles and how the outside environment affects dreams. In order to study how Western artists have depicted dreams and to explore the similarities and disconnections between the past and present, a number of pieces from The Dal's permanent collection are displayed alongside these pieces.
