A unique collection of 34 paintings and sketches by Diego Rivera,will be shown in Southeast Asia for the first time. “Diego Rivera: Pride of Mexico” makes its debut at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) from 13 February to 12 April 2015. Reproductions in near life size of two murals will also be on display.
Belonging to the state of Veracruz in Mexico, this collection of 34 artworks and two mural reproductions presents a snapshot of the key milestones in the master Rivera’s prolific career that spanned 52 years, from 1904 to 1956.
The earliest works shown at the exhibition are a portrait of the artist’s mother and a landscape of Mixcoac, both oil paintings that date back to 1904, completed while he was a student at San Carlos Academy from 1898 to 1905.
