Announced the dates of Andrea Ortis's acclaimed "Frida Opera Musical" tour in 2027
25 September 2026
Following the great success of the launch tour in 2025, the MIC International Company produced an original theatrical play with a strong artistic, cultural, and emotional impact. The production is a collaboration with the Frida Kahlo Museum “Casa Azul” and the Diego Rivera Anahuacalli Museum in Mexico City, with the patronage of the Mexican Embassy in Italy and the Tina Modotti Cultural Institute of Mexico in Italy..
The story revolves around Frida and Diego's relationship, which is a limitless, radical, imperfect love that develops into an alliance as well as a conflict, passion, and ideology—a bond that withstands infidelity, victories, and individual and social revolutions.
The vibrant, joyful, and irreverent Mexico of La Catrina, where life and death dance together to the beat of art—a Mexico with Aztec roots where music envelops everything and everyone in a never-ending song to life—frames it all.
Frida Opera Musical is a tribute to artistic bravery and freedom. It is an affirmation of love for life despite its pain. Frida and the world she created with her eyes are the subject of Frida Opera Musical.
The musical blends the visual impact of Frida Kahlo's pictorial world with the power of musical theatre. The immersive experience created by the original music, choreography, costumes, sets, and projections is intended to captivate the audience both visually and emotionally.
Theatre, painting, dance, and music come together on the stage to create a vast moving fresco that tells a story of an extraordinary life in a modern, spectacular, and intensely moving language.
