"Frida Kahlo: An Intimate Portrait" at the new galleries of Longmont Museum, Colorado, US
17 October 2026 | 31 January 2027Longmont Museum's galleries are reopening Saturday, Oct. 17 after more than a year of closure for a major expansion and renovation. Among the experiences on offer to visitors there will be "Frida Kahlo: An Intimate Portrait", an exhibition featuring 98 rare photographs and personal letters from Kahlo’s private collection, offering an intimate look at Frida's life and the people who knew her.
Just like typical family photo albums, these pictures and letters share a narrative. They shed light on her unstable marriage to the renowned muralist Diego Rivera, celebrate close friendships and joyful moments, and document her lifelong suffering. Additionally, these images serve as proof of how Kahlo carefully designed and perfected her globally recognized persona.
