360-degree projections, augmented reality, letters and diaries come together to form an intimate and compelling portrait. The multimedia exhibition "Viva la Vida" explores her creative power, her connection to Mexico and her ability to transform pain into freedom.
“The exhibition analyses Frida Kahlo’s entire body of work from both an artistic and a symbolic perspective, as she represents an icon of extraordinary relevance today” says director Gianfranco Confessore.
The title ‘Viva la Vida’ refers to her last work, painted eight days before her death. “In this detail, I capture the essence of her experience: a hymn to life expressed at the height of her suffering.”
"For many people, Frida Kahlo symbolises freedom, even though life forced her to endure a path of suffering," emphasises the museum’s artistic director, Renato Nuzzolo. "Directed by Gianfranco Confessore, we wanted to bring out her joy for life to make the audience’s ‘souls dance."
